Here I am, in the air somewhere between Chicago and Madrid, Spain. For those of you that got a glimpse of the Travel-zilla Kate, have no fear! I am quite calm, excited, and generally panic-free.
Stepping into the plane is the first step of experiencing the intended country, and so far I have successfully been able to maneuver my way around the travel and safety announcements in Spanish, order my dinner, and follow directions to my seat (which is hard enough in English, I am quite directionally challenged). Living in a new culture and learning a new language is a series of small victories, and I try my best to make each one count.
I am also feeling pretty blessed for my travel-size stature! Having the ability to fold up like origami in an airplane seat and sleep comfortably is proof that I was born for this.
